The Holy Himalayas :
The Himalayas - the world's most majestic & loftiest mountain chain, is

and has attracted tourists & pilgrims from world over to its awesome beauty
& calm serenity. Uttaranchal abounds in places of sanctity where devotees
converge every year to pay obeisance to their Gods braving vagaries of weather
& other human travails in Himalaya. Closest to the celestial beings, devotees
from all corners of the country have flocked to these Himalayan shrines of
Char Dham - Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath & Badrinath every year to seek
salvation. The arduous trails remain in the ancient sanctuaries of faith for

The
four dhams receive holy water in the form of four streams -
Yamuna
(Yamunotri), Bhagirathi (in Gangotri), Mandakini (in Kedarnath) and Alaknanda
(in Badrinath).
The Ganga, especially, is the river of India, beloved of her people, around
which are entwined her memories, her hopes and fears, her songs of triumph,
her victories and defeats. She has been the symbol of India's age long culture

Badrinath

Badrinath
situated at an elevation of 3,133 mt is considered to be amongst the most
pious.

Kedarnath

The
Kedarnath shrine, one of the 12 jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, is a scenic
spot situated, against the backdrop of the majestic Kedarnath range. At
an altitude of 3,581 mt it is a 14 km trek from Gaurikund.

Gangotri

This
sacred shrine, situated at an altitude of 3,200 mt is the of the river Bhagirathi.
It is surrounded by the mountain peaks of Shivaling, Satopanth and Bhagirathi
sisters.one of the most pious Hindu Pilgrimages.Accessible by a motorable
road,it is one of the most pious Hindu Pilgrimages.

Yamunotri

The
shrine of Yamunotri,situated at an elevation of about 3,235 mt is a point
of paramount religious importance for Hindus and an essential pilgrimage.
Situated in the direction opposite to Gangotri,the road bifurcates froma
place called Dharasu,somewhere between Rishikesh- Uttarkashi and goes on
to Yamunotri. The shrine can also be visited via mussorie and Barkot.
